Saliva can also help your tooth’s enamel–or the protective layer of your teeth–stay strong. However, be aware that chewing gum should not replace flossing or brushing.

Still, even though chewing gum can benefit your pearly whites, different types of gums are actually better than other. You should always try to avoid gum that contains sugar. If you do chew gum that has sugar in it, you may as well be eating candy. When you are choosing a pack of gum, try to find gum with xylitol in it. Xylitol can actually strengthen your tooth’s outer layer and neutralize bad bacteria.
