Summer has officially arrived – which means it’s the longest day of the year! Our smiles will certainly benefit from more sunlight and a little more H20!

BUT…

It’s important that, although the days are extended, our bodies still get an adequate amount of sleep.

Why you ask?

Besides turning our smiles upside down metaphorically, lack of sleep can hurt your smile literally. Did you know that loss of sleep comes in second – behind smoking – as the leading causes of periodontal disease?

Additionally, losing sleep might be an indication of something more serious, such as teeth grinding. In fact, 1 in 17 people go undetected for teeth grinding. And grinding your teeth can weaken your them and cause extreme sensitivity!

So, it’s important to keep in mind that an adequate amount of sleep is very crucial to our smiles, and not just our general health.
