With the first pick, in the 2013 Dental Draft, Preston Family Dentistry selects…
YOU to join their community!

With the NFL Draft right around the corner, we’re asking you to “get your head in the game” in more ways than one.

For a nation so perpetually engulfed in athletics, it is important to protect our bodies from the various injuries we sometimes deem inevitable. Truth is, most can be prevented by…

PAYING ATTENTION. I bet you never thought your dentist would tell you “keep your eye on the ball,” huh? Well, believe it or not, paying attention to skill technique helps you avoid any unwanted trips to the dentist!
PURCHASING THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT. Make sure that you’re not only sporting your team colors proudly, but your mouthguard too – make sure it is fitted properly!
REMEMBERING MOUTHGUARDS AREN’T LIMITED TO “CONTACT SPORTS.” Some sports, such as baseball, basketball, racquetball, skateboarding, etc. are not traditionally considered “contact sports,” – consequently, not requiring mouthguards – but participation in these sports can, and often do, result in oral/facial injuries.
Feeling competitive? Here is a little trivia to prove my point…

Every athlete involved in contact sport has about a 10% chance per season of an orofacial injury and a 33-56% chance during an athletic career.
It is estimated that faceguards and mouthguards prevent approximately 200,000 injuries each year in high school and college football.
Dental injuries are the most common orofacial injury sustained during participation in sports.
So, now that you’re part of a star team – Preston Family Dentistry – it’s time to thank your mom, your dad, your siblings, your friends, but most of all…thank your DENTIST! Without whom, that smile wouldn’t shine so bright on draft day!
